Thomas Industries CEO Larry Thomas is a pioneer in the roofing industry. He has played a pivotal role in passing laws to regulate insurance for workers’ compensation in the roofing arena for the state of Alabama. Larry saw the importance of establishing benchmark standards industry-wide to provide more affordable coverage and safer work environments for employees.
With that goal in mind, in 1970 Larry and his colleagues began working on an organization called the Alabama Roofing, Sheet Metal, Heating & Air Conditioning Contractors Association (ARSM-HACCA). Today it is known as WorkersFirst and is the most successful workers’ compensation self-insurance program in the state of Alabama.
